CHERITON and SEABROOK. Cheriton is situated in Elham Union and Folkestone
Hundred, lathe of Shepway, West Kent, two miles and a half from Folkestone,
W.N.W., five west from Dover. The church is dedicated to St. Martin, and is an
ancient building. The Rev. Robert Frazer is the rector. The population in 1851
was 521. Seabrook is a hamlet, consisting of a few houses, on the road from
Hythe to Sandgate, about midway between the two towns. Horne Street is one mile
N.W. from Sandgate; Coolinge is half a mile north from Sandgate; Seabrook and
Underhill are near Cheriton; Endbrook and Sceene are other places; Risborough is
half a mile N.W. of Sandgate.
