At 37 Folkestone Road by 1913; This has been closed for a while and was re-opened under the new name of 'Renaissance'. The original sign had a picture of a Napoleonic War era Infantry-man. Probably due to the fort, built as a defence against invasion by Napoleon, which is situated on the hill behind and which was used by soldiers in the Boer War and WW1. From the 1960s part was a Borstal for young offenders but now the fort is serving as a detention centre for illegal immigrants. ***
