SELLING is a village four miles S.W. of Faversham, and eight S.E of Canterbury,
in the lathe of Scray, Boughton-under-Blean hundred, and Faversham union. The
population in 1851 was 597. The church of St. Mary is very ancient. The Rev.
George Beardsworth, M.A., is the vicar. Shattenden Hill is a fine view, and on
it is a triangular camp. The hamlet of Gushmore is in the neighbourhood. Ovens
Court is one mile and a half N.W.; Road, or Rhoads, Mullinge, and Cockshill, one
mile S.E.; Three Beeches, one mile S.E. ; Sole Street, one mile and a half west.
